Red Sox vote to boycott Japan trip--crisis averted

    claire was there to work the game - behind-the-scences as usual during espn telecasts. she's not an on-air person, but the breaking news turned her into a reporter again, a job she did as well as anyone in baseball for many years.

    the sox said they specifically negotiated the coaches' stipends before agreeing to the trip last october. i love the action they took, although baseball should've caved earlier to avoid looking so ridiculous. too late.
