Hopefully this isn't a d_b but nothing came up on it when I did a search.

I think you gotta love ballplayers who have a sense of humor like this....

I have Verizon FIOS as my cable TV supplier. The Boston-New York games was listed as being:
Red Socks v. Yankees. BOSOX fans shold be upset about that. Besides, if Manny can just be Manny, can't Shelley just be Shelley?

    "Avoid The Clap, Jimmy Dugan."

Personally, I think that's funny. He personalized the autograph as opposed to signing his name and doing nothing more. Those parents ought to lighten up.

    1. Nice quote
    2. Can't agree more!

  5. I thought it was pretty funny too, though, to be fair, the sense of humor of your average 10-year-old isn't exactly sophisticated, and irony is usually lost on little kids.

I have about half a dozen 10-year-olds in my neighborhood, and five of the six are little assholes. All five of those kids would've told Shelley to fuck off if he did that in their book, and then they'd have had it at school, showing off the autograph the next day.

Give today's kids some credit, why don't you?

Funny thing is most Red Sox fans (and apparently a lot of Yankees fans) think this was a cruel thing to do to a 10-year-old.

I'm not surprised Sox fans would feel that way. Yankees fans? That's a surprise.
