This business also has some hacks in it.

Journalistically, that headline tells you nothing about what the story is about.

Maybe the greatest competitor the NBA will ever know.
I bet the pick-up games in Heaven just picked up in intensity now.
Red is coaching Len Bias and I'll take that combo against anyone.
    RIP, Red.
And, God how I wish Tony K. had a show on Monday, 'cause I would pay to hear Bob Ryan and Jr. Feinstein pay homage to Red.

It ain't funny, Frylock. If your co-workers think it's funny, they're idiots. Not because it's distasteful, or any PC nonsense. It's ... just ... not ... funny.

    It wasn't a real headline.
It was just a "suggestion" done jokingly, probably more in a context that was funnier to us.

Subtract one from that list. I'm old enough at 30 to understand the significance of the NBA when Red and Celtics ruled, along with Chet Walker and the Sixers, Rick Barry and the Warriors and Earl the Pearl in D.C., and in NY with Clyde.

Red Auerbach was pro basketball for a young pup like me. Without someone like him and those who coached and played back then, Boston, the Knickerbockers, and the Lakers wouldn't be household names.

I always enjoy watching old clips of games (in every sport) from 30, 40, and 50+ years ago. It makes me appreciate every single minute of the games I watch today.

May you coach the angels how to play basketball the right way, Red.

Wasn't one of the villains in FX named Shylock?

Or am I thinking of Blakelock from The Gauntlet?

Or maybe it's Blaylock from the 1988 Final Four.

Frylock is a character from Futurama, I think. *paging Khartoum*

Great post....if you do go to the funeral, maybe you can come back here and tell us about it.

    RIP Red.

A Boston fan site reports that at the end of Weekend Update on SNL, the two actors lit cigars. Can anyone here confirm? If true, it'd be the first seriously cool thing SNL has done in this century.
