    Ninety-one per cent of Americans believe sending text messages while driving is as dangerous as driving after having a couple of drinks, but 57 per cent admit doing it, a poll released today said.

    The Harris Interactive survey commissioned by mobile messaging service Pinger Inc. found 89 per cent of respondents believe texting while driving is dangerous and should be outlawed.

    Even so, 66 per cent of the adults surveyed who drive and use text messaging told pollsters they had read text messages or e-mails while driving. Fifty-seven per cent admitted to sending them

    I do that too. :)

    To be fair, most of the texts I sent this weekend from my car came while I was in traffic, so only going like 40.

    I'm admittedly way, way behind on technology, but the thought of someone -- especially teenagers -- texting while driving is just mind-boggling to me.

    It's no more distracting than putting on make-up, shaving, talking on the phone or watching porn. All of which I've seen people doing in their vehicles around here.

    When I see people talking on the phone (sans hands-free device) or texting, I just run their asses off the road. Even better when going over a bridge like the GW or Pulaski Skyway.
