Can't say enough good things about Zack and what he's doing at the C-L. I imagine you'll be covering recruiting for Ole Miss and Mississippi State as well as high school recruiting throughout the state. A lot of responsibility.

Whoever gets this job will have a tough act to follow in John Talty, who left last month for AL.com. He was outstanding in that job.

In addition to high schools, you'll have to keep up with a pretty talent-rich junior college system as well. The C-L has beat writers for Ole MIss & State (and uses the Hattiesburg American for Southern Miss coverage), so you'd have some help there.

In our little corner of the state, we hear they've got a preferred candidate for this in hand, shall we say.

However ... they're presumably going to need to hire a prep writer before the fall to replace a(nother) guy who left for AL.com, so it would be a chance to preemptively get your resume on the SE's desk.

Edit: I see the C-L preps gig was entered on the Jobs board while I was writing the above post. So there you go.

So is this a good job? Have they made the hire or is that just scuttlebutt?

Riley Blevins, who had been covering Tennessee for Scout.com, tweeted that he got the job:
