His knee wasn't shredded. I posted this the other day. The doctor said AP has some kind of freak knee.

Still a great story that he came back so fast. But it helped that he is blessed to have that kind of knee.

The Barry Sanders comparison is a good one... They're the same type of runner and both do a great job making something of nothing...

AP isn't the pass catcher that LDT and Faulk were. But they weren't the runner that he is.

Jim Brown ran for 1,863 yards in 14 games in 1963. That projects to 2,129 yards over 16 games. Jim Brown was awesome.

Not disputing the greatness of Jim Brown, but projections like this are pointless if not completely stupid.

If we're doing that, a fully healthy Peterson projects to 2,556 yards next year based on his rate of the last 10 games.

Or 3,272 based on his two games against the Packers.

And OJ Simpson ran for 2003 yards in only 14 games in 1973. That's even more awesome.

Toss out the projection, then. Brown averaged 6.4 yards per carry that season.

Who knows how many yards Dickerson could have had if he hadn't run out of bounds so much. Or how many Peterson would have had if he ran out of bounds with 15 seconds left. This season of his really had a Payton or Sanders feeling to it.

That shouldn't have anything to do with an MVP award though. MVP is simply the best season, not the most impressive based on factors off the field.

AP would be my MVP though.

Physically Peterson is the best RB there has been. He's got the power of Payton and close to the cutting ability of Sanders with the breakaway speed of Sayers.
