Except the catch is you're basing that on what is essentially his "after" photo following years of trying to make himself look biracial. As we saw with Dolezal, it's the "before" childhood photos that gives these folks away. Apparently this is King's:

The legless Army dude is the most pissed-off guy in America right now: Another ESPY Courage Award just out of his reach.

One of his classmates posted a lengthy statement about what he saw at the school that day, it largely backs up King's story about the assault. In the comments a retired teacher also recalls clearing students out of the hallway in the aftermath, also largely backs up King's story.

A crowd is going to gather anytime there's a fight in a school hallway.

Having to break up a crowd doesn't mean he was attacked by a crowd.

And the attack most definitely wan't racial.

    But this guy does sympathize.

Well, that's interesting. But it does beg the question as to why the actual police report so thoroughly contradicts this version of the story. Seems somebody's lying, that's for sure.

Police report doesn't match events? Unpossible!

Valid point. Although, in this case, two versions of the story are so dramatically different you almost have to wonder if they're referring to the same incident.

Worth noting that some of the more dramatic elements of King's version I've read--for example, his apparent claims that it was one of the state's first official registered hate crimes, that he had three spinal surgeries, that he was forced to miss 18 months of school, etc.--are the sort that should be quite provable via public record, medical records, school records, etc. IF these claims are true, I'd suggest now would be a damn good time to be getting such proof. He could shut plenty of people up quick if he produced the goods.

Theories: mom and dad had an open relationship. She had a kid with a black guy named paolo. Kept hubby on birth certificate.

If king was beat so badly, his family sued and he used the money to become black.
