Richard Jeni, one of Comedy Central's Top 100 Comedians of All Time, is dead. According to police, Jeni was found dead presumably from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Saturday, March 10, 2007. A loaded gun was reportedly found next to his body.

    No. God no.

One of my top five favorite comedians ever. A genuinely funny guy I can't wait to hear every time he comes up at XM 150.

    RIP, Richard.

I feel exactly the same way, Birdscribe.

    I've even seen him live.

    Damn, damn, damn.

Watched one of his cable gigs a while back. Good stuff. R.I.P.

His last HBO Special was some of his best work...

I guess comedians are the most tortured people...

I loved the one that that "Platypus" in the title.

Don't know if that was the latest one or not -- probably not.

You are absolutely right on that one. I dated a woman who was an aspiring stand-up, and that was even worse, a tortured soul who hadn't even begun to sniff at success.

He was one of the very best at describing America's political leanings:

I am a bit perplexed at trying to find this obit on line. MSNBC, CNN, LA Times, nada. You'd think it would show up somewhere.
