It sounds like that is the plan :

NAACP National Board Chairman Julian Bond repeated the call during the opening address Sunday night for the 98th annual convention, which runs through Thursday.

"While we are happy to have sent a certain radio cowboy back to his ranch, we ought to hold ourselves to the same standard," Bond said. "If he can't refer to our women as `hos,' then we shouldn't either."

This reminds me of some reverse racism I saw back in about 1991 or so.

I was watching ASPN (Arizona Sports Programming Network) with a buddy, and two Division II schools were locked in a battle that could only be appreciated on tape delay in the middle of the afternoon.

Well one school was down 6-7 points with about two minutes left in the game, and the coach beckons to a seldom used player from the end of the bench.

The skinny, white kid who was about 6-0 rips off the warms ups and waits at the scorers table. The "color" man makes a comment about the new player entering the game.

"Well it looks like so-and-so is coming off the bench now. We really do not know too much about so-and-so, but I'm guessing he is a pretty good outside shooter."

I so wish I could hear that zinger again.

As a white male, I am offended by that stereotype.

Why would that word deserve a casket?

Good question. Should have been buried in pine box at potters field.

I couldn't agree more with the sentiment that led to the rhetorical burial of the word, but I thought the ceremony looked a bit silly. Unfortunately, won't change the language of many people who routinely use the word.

Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, the announcer deduced that a team that was losing late in a game might be looking for a three-point specialist?

I understand his point. You don't want the white guy on court the whole game yet at end when chips are down you want to bring him in to pull off miricle and drop in 40 footer. It's wrong.

It is wrong to have specialists on your bench reserved for specialty situations? Are you fucking serious?
