R.I.P. Howard Garfinkel

Dick Weiss tweeted that Howie Garfinkel died at the age of 85. One of the great basketball characters and NYC characters of all-time and hugely influential with his 5-star Basketball Camps.

Few years back I spoke to him and met him at his apartment building. The hoops talk started right away and as we walked toward his favorite deli I almost walked into traffic in Midtown. He held me back, told me to not get killed, and then continued talking about Chris Mullin.
