R.I.P. "Hoot" Gibson

  1. Longtime Martins Ferry (Ohio) sports writer, columnist Richard "Hoot" Gibson died after a fight with lymphoma. He was 60.
    He spent 32 years on staff at the Times Leader and covered a lot of stuff. He was pretty well-known in the area.

    Knew him from working down there. Remember him crowing about hitting the entire Final Four at a Wheeling Thunderbirds game when Mississippi State made it around 20 years ago. I was in the pool and though I was good b/c I had three out of four.

    RIP, Hoot.
