I hadn't seen this. He was huge in the 1960s and 70s and 80s.

I was just looking at his bio. ... he had something to do with a ridiculous number of shows that are entrenched in popular culture. The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, Bob Newhart Show, WKRP, Hill Street Blues. ... when he ran NBC, they went from last place network to at the top. ... Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers all during his tenure.

Also married to Mary Tyler Moore for a couple of decades. I'll always remember his company MTM (which also produced "The White Shadow" and "Newhart" in addition to the shows above) for that vanity card at the end of the shows with the cat meowing (a la MGM's roaring of the lion).

@MTM must be in mourning to not have posted.

He was great with Evers and Chance. And of course in The Client, too.

And how about Lou Grant, must-see TV for newspaper people back in the day? I believe that was the first case of a drama spun off from a comedy (although Lou Grant certainly wasn't lacking in humor). Every so often, if I've got some time to kill, I'll watch an old episode or two online.

Always liked that cat, especially at the end of the White Shadow (dribbling a basketball) and St. Elsewhere (wearing surgical cap and mask).

I didn't know MTM was that old. She would've been pushing 40 by the time my little vienna sausage was aware of her, and I loved her then and now.

1, is this David Duchovny's dad?
2, is this the guy who auditioned for Kramer and stole the raisins?

I vaguely remember watching episodes with my dad. I would've been 5 or 6.

The dialogue at the restaurant with Lou talking to "A" while "C" walks in goes straight to the heart of the Workplace Dissension thread in Anything Goes.

Well, she was 25 when playing Laura Petrie in 1961. But arguably was hotter 15-20 years later.
