R.I.P. actor James Farentino

Veteran actor James Farentino, known recently for portraying George Clooney's father on ER, died at age 73 after a long illness.

Well, thank God you were here to not only let us know that you didn't know this guy, but to overcome that obstacle to summarize his impact on the world.

 

Didn't he die a few weeks ago?

Somehow he just makes me think "Sunday Night Movie" on ABC.

 

In fairness, looking at his IMDB profile, I've heard of exactly two productions this guy was in -- the classic Damon Wayans/Adam Sandler vehicle, "Bulletproof," and "Her Alibi," which I've never actually seen. I'm guessing Stitch is in the same boat.

I think they're stretching the grounds of credulity when they describe him as "beloved actor" in that obit. He might be beloved within his circle of family and friends, but this guy was not well known for his acting work, no matter how many TV movies he was in before 1990.
