He has a 42 2/3 inning scoreless streak going. Can he keep it going a few more starts and break Orel Hershiser's all-time record?

His next start will be Sunday, in Yankee Stadium, vs. CC Sabathia.

This will be the most anticipated pitching matchup in a long time...the AL's top pitcher vs. the pitcher having the most dominant season since Pedro in his day.

The streak ended against Tampa Bay last start.

And, as mentioned in the running thread, the streak is alive ... for unearned runs.

Manky, how can you even ask that question when you KNOW Jeter will go 5-for-5 with three homers, a double and eight RBIs?

I don't apologize for starting a separate thread for Dickey. He is two shutouts away from breaking Orel Hershiser's record. I will be a believer if he can shut down the Yankees in the House That Jeter Built on Sunday, since the Yankees (especially Jeter) have OWNED Tim Wakefield.

Constantly point people to running threads on more than newsworthy threads is dumb. Even though Manky started this with his usual Mankyness, which includes not having a firm grip on the facts, Dickey's incredible season is worth discussing in its own thread. The guy hasn't given up an earned run in almost a month.

Overall, I see your point, but in this case it was warranted. Manky was in the middle of the discussion over there, too, and still asked a question that had been answered on the running thread.

The thread is a good idea, though.

    No, he isn't.

The Yankees -- and the rest of the league, for that matter -- haven't seen a knuckler quite like Dickey's. It's much faster than anything Wakefield threw, and it's much tougher to hit.

I hope Dickey beans Jeter and breaks his knee with his super awesome fast knuckler.
Then, when Jeter channels the combined might of the ghosts of Roy Hobbs, Babe Ruth (who will be late because he was whoring it up the night before) and Alex Rodriguez's vagina, turns around and bats left-handed, Dickey drills him again and breaks the other knee.

Who would win in a race around the world?
    Mini-Ditka?
    Or Mini-Dickey?

No, Hershiser's record is 59 scoreless innings. If Dickey throws two more shutouts, that will be 60 2/3 innings.

Oh, and guess who Dickey's pitching coach was with the Texas Rangers when he first started developing his knuckler? Orel Hershiser.
