Wow. This really surprised me. No fucking way I'd live in Florida.

    Tampa
    Orlando
    Houston
    Charleston
    Austin, Texas
    Memphis
    Jacksonville
    West Palm Beach
    San Antonio
    Fort Worth
    Savannah
    Augusta
    Miami
    St. Pete
    Galveston
    Dallas
    Nashville
    Louisville
    Clearwater
    Daytona
    Beaumont, Texas
    Corpus Christi, Texas
    Birmingham, Ala.
    Oklahoma City

  2. I also took the survey, which is apparently brought to you by the lovely metropolises (metropoli?) of Knoxville, El Paso and Carlisle, Pa.

    1. Charleston, SC
    2. Knoxville
    3. Jacksonville
    4. Orlando
    5. Austin
    6. Houston
    7. San Antonio
    8. West Palm Beach
    9. Louisville
    10. Charlotte
    11. Nashville
    12. Norfolk
    13. Fort Worth
    14. Memphis
    15. Oklahoma City
    16. Chesapeake/Virginia Beach
    17. Tampa
    18. El Paso
    19. Lexington
    20. Cincinnati
    21. Carlisle, PA
    22. Dallas
    23. Seattle
    24. Bergen, NJ

Nine places on that list I couldn't see myself living. And not surprisingly, my current address is nowhere to be found.

Funny that the only one of my top five cities I would say I "love" is #1.

Out of the ones I know, I heart Nos. 1, 5, 8, 15 and 20. And apparently my life is woefully incomplete since I've never really been to Texas.

    1. Jacksonville
    2. Houston
    3. Orlando
    4. Charleston, S.C.
    5. Memphis
    6. Chesapeake-Va. Beach
    7. W. Palm Beach
    8. Tampa
    9. Norfolk
    10. Augusta
    11. San Antonio
    12. Ft. Worth
    13. Austin
    14. Oklahoma City
    15. Nashville
    16. Miami
    17. Dallas
    18. Louisville
    19. Daytona Beach
    20. Savannah
    21. Clearwater, Fla.
    22. Charlotte
    23. Corpus Christi
    24. Beaumont

I've been to Beaumont how that makes anybody's Top 25 is beyond me. Calling Beaumont a shithole is an insult to shitholes everywhere.

    Here we go.

    1. Little Rock
    2. Shreveport, LA
    3. Alexandria, LA
    4. Fayetteville, AR
    5. Charleston, WV
    6. Frederick, MD
    7. Monroe, LA
    8. Baltimore, MD
    9. Greenville, SC
    10. Nachitoches, LA
    11. Gaithersburg, MD
    12. Hickory, NC
    13. Clarksville, TN
    14. Tulsa, OK
    15. Chattanooga, TN
    16. Jackson, MS
    17. Athens, GA
    18. Tuscaloosa, AL
    19. Sacramento, CA
    20. Charlotte, NC
    21. Portland, OR
    22. Honolulu, Hawaii
    23. Santa Cruz, CA
    24. Norfolk, VA

So the best part of this entire list is that I live within an hour of Little Rock now and love it, but am moving within an hour (I think) of a few other locations on this list in three weeks.

Maybe checking that I thought being able to attend sporting events was essential gravitated my list toward major collegiate and professional organization cities. :)

I guess because Norfolk is urban and Chesapeake and Va. Beach is suburban. Be thankful it didn't pick Suffolk for you.

    My top 10
    1. Norfolk
    2. Long Island
    3. Seattle
    4. Knoxville
    5. Nashville
    6. Cincinnati
    7. Louisville
    8. Charlotte
    9. New York City (get a rope)
    10. Lexington, Ky.

Also receiving votes: St. Louis; Olympia, Wash.; Hampton, Va.; Wilmington, Del.; Philadelphia; Carlisle, Penn.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Richmond; Oklahoma City; Tacoma, Wash.; Greenville, S.C.; Greenville, N.C. (spooky); Rocky Mount-Stony Creek, N.C.; Johnson City-Kingsport, Tenn.

I'm curious how Norfolk can be my No. 1 when Chesapeake, where I was born, doesn't crack the top 24. Also, I bet if there was a spot for "vinegar barbeque sauce" on the survey, Greenville N.C. and Rocky Mount wouldn't sniff my list.

  7. Wow, that's pretty much my list to a T.

Almost all of mine are in Wisconsin.

Which I'm sure Rosie will find hilarious.

See, now THAT is a list I could deal with. Dammit. Only without all the humidity and long hot summers.

I'm not moving to Denver. I don't care if it means I'll be pathetically sad for the rest of my life, always missing out on the Utopia that is that city. Fuck it.
