Qdoba, Moe's or Chipotle

Excellent point. Real Mexican food is cheap. Not this $7-per-burrito crap you get from one of the chains.

Not to mention that you should never be able to really understand the cook.

This is why I said it was the best of the quasi-authentic variety.

My bad. I understood your post better when I re-read that.

Never heard of the other two places but Moes rocks. There are two in my metro area and one is coming to my neighborhood. I cant wait. The Homewrecker burritos are the bomb.

    Isn't Chipotle owned by McDonald's?

Best thing about living in Austin: not having to settle for bad Mexican.

I could do without the sour cream and salsa, but I love Chipotle. I wish we had one around these parts.

And yes, UTshooter, McDonald's does own Chipotle.

There's no Moe's anywhere near where I am. There's a Qdoba and a Chipotle across the street from each other and as far as I can tell, their chicken burritos are basically the same, as are their steak. That's all I've ever ordered from either place.

Damn straight about Austin. Hell, you could scoop a dog turd and it would taste better in Austin.

McD's no longer owns Chipotle. They spun it off a couple of months ago. Here's the Chipotle spin:

Anyone who judges these places against real Mexican misses the point. It's a place to get non-offensive burritos. You can't get anything "real," but they don't claim you can. The looking-down-on on this thread is obscene...the thread isn't "best Mexican food in your city."

    Jesus.

    That being said:

    1. Chipotle
    7. Qdoba
    4,287,245. Moe's
