Putting four-letter words INTO a Bob Knight quote?

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by ADifferentOkie, Jan 25, 2007.

  1. This is from the AP writeup from tonight's Texas Tech game against Texas A&M.

"Knight acknowledged that he bought food for some of the students 'because I thought they might be (damn) hungry.'"

What is going on here? Did he use a stronger word than damn and they just went this route instead of expletive deleted? Did they read his mind?

Did AP put a warning note on language up top? They did for win No. 880 because of a "son of a b_tch" reference.

Roy Williams acknowledged that he bought food for some of the opposing team's students "because, like me, they don't give a damn about North Carolina."
