So your premise would be, what? That people are quite satisfied with what they've gotten under Bush?

  2. No, that four years of McCain equals four more years of Bush.

Well, let's put it this way.

It will be a hell of a lot easier for the Democrats to tie McCain to Bush in a general election campaign than it will be for Republicans to tie Obama to a nebulous anathema. Why?

    - Unpopular war
    - Bad economy

Pinko? Hell, the world may be coming to an end. Rasmussen's poll yesterday gave McCain only a 50-44 edge in Mississippi over Obama.

Though I really don't believe Obama can win Mississippi, he could be surprisingly competitive if black voter turnout is high enough.

He probably can't win, but he can force McCain to spend time and money there that he otherwise might spend in Ohio or Pennsylvania or Florida. The more states Obama can bring into the fold, the better for him, because he's got a much deeper operation than McCain does.

And he'll have a lot more money.

Thirty-seven percent of Mississippians are black, compared to 13 percent for the nation as a whole. I think you have to consider Mississippi in play.

And I pray every night that every last one of them will get to the polls.

More money and more people willing to work for him for free. Could be a good combination.

As for the 37 percent figure, that's been true for a while, and it hasn't helped. But then Obama's got that significant difference from previous candidates. If he truly galvanizes them, it could be very interesting. (Particularly if the Barr candidacy picks up steam and siphons off voters. Anyone think Dems should be sending him checks? ;) )
