Jonathan Gold is outstanding. Unlike most restaurant and food critics, he also writes about storefront places and inexpensive joints. His articles talk about different ethnic groups and even restaurants and neighborhoods from specific parts of Mexico or something like Argentine restaurants that other reporters couldn't find unless they read Jonathan Gold. I have learned more about southern California from reading his articles than any other writer. And I have never gone wrong eating at any places he has profiled.
