I wonder if not being able to write is a deal breaker?

    The latter is job security.

    High marks to SI/Time Inc.

Though I made it clear during up front the job wasn't a great fit for me, the woman I spoke with gave me a call back just to "close the loop" and say they'd gone in another direction.

Thorough and classy. Wish everyone handled business that way.

What wasn't a good 'fit' for you? The good pay? Big city? Working for Sports Illustrated?

Please excuse the sarcasm; I want this job really bad, and I don't understand why everyone's not leaping for it.

    Hey, those are honest questions.

Truth is, my current situation is better. I'm at a shockingly stable company with (mostly) great people. My job is fun 85-88 percent of the time. And I work nights, but not late ones, and get most of my weekends off.

I'd have to uproot -- no expenses paid -- to work until 2 a.m., nights and weekends, and start fresh.

    I know, it's SI . . . but I'm better off paying dues where I'm at.

A year ago, I'd probably be right there with ya.

  7. From what I've heard it was filled a couple days ago.
