As posted on Journalism Jobs ...

The Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, N.Y., has an immediate opening for a college/pro sports reporter who knows the best stories often aren’t found on the playing field. We have many ways to slice this opening, depending on your skills and background. We’re home to Eastern League baseball, Division I basketball and an American Hockey League team. Any of those beats could be in play. We’re looking for the best-available journalist. We work in a fast-paced, Web-first environment. Send us clips and links that prove you know how to break big stories and manage a beat across all platforms. In addition to your print work, you will be expected to blog, Tweet and interact with the community in other ways. Please email your resume, letter, writing samples and Web links to Al Vieira, Assistant Managing Editor, avieira@gannett.com. No phone calls, please. The Press & Sun-Bulletin is an equal opportunity employer.

Good news - it's an opening.
    Bad news - it's Gannett.

In Binghamton, the best stories are found wherever the Bearcats basketball players are--usually in WalMart, a dingy street corner and, eventually, a courthouse.

Does anyone know anything about the department? Who left? How big of a department it is? Pay?

    Thanks
