He didn't get fired for coming out.

    Or for criticizing Church teaching.

He got "fired" for breaking his vows of chastity and celibacy. He would've been "fired" if his partner was a man or a woman.

I'm not defending the headline. I'm calling bullshit on YF for yet again waiting until a few posts into a thread he started before addressing the point he wanted to make all along. If he wants to attack the initial story, just do that without the games.

The headline is absolutely misleading. Then again, so is YF's thread title.

    So, "media bad"?

    Go ahead oop, say it!

Well, just think of how many people way dumber than you and I were sucked in and didn't think to ask any more questions because their own "views" we're validated in the (incorrect) headline.

Again, I have no problem criticizing the headline. It should be criticized. Why isn't that in the initial post?

Nope. I'm not irrationally slamming the media every opportunity I find, whether it is valid or not. I leave that to you.

Except there's nothing irrational about slamming the media in case. It's deserved.

In the last 48 hours, we've seen seriously misleading headlines from the Times (and others) on the fired gay priest, from the BBC and Al Jazeera on the murder of two Israelis by a Palestinian, and by CNN on the air strike on the Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan.

At some point, shouldn't we ask why this is happening?

Are these all just "mistakes" or is it part of a political agenda that spans "the media"?
