PressBox managing editor -- Baltimore

PressBox, a media company covering sports in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., has an opening for a full-time managing editor. This position will be an integral part of the management team responsible for the continued growth of the company.

Duties
• Edit all content for PressBoxOnline.com, PressBoxDC.com and PressBox print edition, as well as other PressBox communications such as newsletters, ads and press releases
• Communicate with writers and photographers about assignments and deadlines
• Supervise assistant editor and interns
• Post content and make updates to PressBoxOnline.com and PressBoxDC.com on a rotating basis with other PressBox staff members -- including night and weekend coverage
• Compile ad list and create layout for PressBox print edition
• Assist with payroll by keeping track of compensation for writers
• Submit credential requests for writers and photographers
• Post on social media when handling night and weekend site coverage
• Serve as the primary editorial contact for PressBox, answering questions from PressBox employees, media relations employees and others who inquire about PressBox's editorial work
• Hire new writers, interns and editorial employees as needed

Qualifications
• Experience as an editor, preferably of both digital and print materials
• Knowledge of sports, particularly in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., markets
• Proficiency in AP style
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with content management systems
• Ability to commute to PressBox's Baltimore office on weekdays and work from home on nights and weekends
