First, there's a difference for applying and getting. You can apply to all the jobs you want, but when there are limited jobs out there, getting one is not a guarantee. Second, if you are a 45-year-old banker who held a $70,000/year-plus job, what are the odds they are going to get an $8 per hour job delivering pizza? The pizza parlor owner is more likely to hire someone who expects to get $8 and hour (high school kids, low education level adults, etc) vs. someone who has a high degree and is used to making far more than minimum wage. Over qualified is a reason people don't get hired. If this was just a matter of people are too lazy to find a job, we would have unemployment back down to 3-4 percent. 9-10 percent unemployment is not because the unemployed are too lazy to find work.

Perry pledges to draw a bright contrast between himself and Obama. Right on a big rock at the entrance to his ranch. #cnndebate

Ryan v. yet-to-be-named Democratic candidate in 2016. Book it right now.

It doesn't matter who wins tonight or who even wins the nomination. Even they must, to some extent, know that. They're going to lose. They're supposed to lose. Losing is in frankly in the best interest of the Republican Party.

When I watch these debates - for either party, at any time - I think of the curse words they must most prominently use in their everyday life.

I imagine, of tonight's group, Gingrich has the biggest potty mouth - and probably the best.

Who replaced Mitt Romney with this feisty guy who went after Cain and Perry?

Sarah Palin's analysis on Fox News:

"If not Newt Gingrich, hopefully the other candidates whether they have as much money as the next guy will learn from Newt Gingrich; understand that we want to hear substance; we want to hear solutions; we don't want to hear the engagement of the nitpicking and the bickering because that just plays right on in to the left's handbook as they get ready for the general election debates."

    No. Talks too long.

Gingrich is. He's the smartest. He's also Gingrich.

And people criticize #OWS for not having a comprehensible platform?

It's a shame she didn't run, if only because, after one debate, she would have been so thoroughly pummeled by her opponents that she would have been run out of the race - and anybody who went after her would have lost her Jean Teasdale groupies. Cain would have been left standing, negotiating with terrorists.

From Nate Silver, via Twitter: "How Intrade scored the debate: Perry +1.0, Huntsman +0.5, Santorum +0.3, Gingrich +0.1, Bachmann +0.0, Paul -0.3, Romney -0.4, Cain -1.6."

"So ... betting markets think Huntsman had one of the best nights -- by not participating."

I'll never know how guys who curse in real life are able to hold it in while in public.

Giuliani had a pretty dirty mouth. Never revealed it in public though.
