My argument is it's the same ditch we've been in, only it's more offensive to our educated sensibilities.

Guys like Kristol don't give a shit if the person in the White House is an unqualified, ill-informed culture warrior - so long as they take their marching orders from the thinktanks and conservative intelligentsia. This the same party that had a Nom De Plumb on the campaign trail.

Trump's an asshole, but, more to the point, he doesn't really give a shit what anyone - anyone! - really thinks, in part because he doesn't need anyone's money.

 

Deutsche Bank and Vladimir Putin might disagree with your last point.

 

Looks like he's locked himself in a room with his android and is feeling a little melancholy again.

He's not wrong. I mean, in the short term, I'm quite glad they're not supporting him. But Donald Trump is much closer to understanding the entitled, back-stabbing snakes around him than we may appreciate.

We'd better hope Trump can't/won't organize a slate of candidates. If he ever got a decent slate of corrupt goons to run in primaries, they might win.
