What're the Saudis gonna do? Quiver like Jello after Biden even tangentially hints of an oil boycott, like Obama did?

I would think that was more about getting at Jared. MBS plainly does not give an old dry shit about anyone's opinion, and if he does he'll seriously consider having them killed.

In 1888, Grover Cleveland became the first incumbent POTUS in more than 50 years to lose re-election. And since he won the popular vote, he could not believe he had lost the election. So, he filed dozens of lawsuits all across the country. He sent two telegrams to the New York Sun everyday for weeks. The first one read "I won" followed immediately by a second which read "by a lot."

And all this came after it was revealed that Cleveland pressured the sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Abdul Hamid II, into launching an investigation against his opponent, Benjamin Harrison.

Does this all sound ridiculous? Of course because, as Jonathan Frakes would say, it never happened.

So what did happen? Cleveland accepted the results, attended Harrison's inauguration and held his umbrella for him. And hopefully, Cleveland will remain the only president with non-consecutive terms.......

“It’s not a brace or a cast, it’s a giant sock that the President is wearing to show how much he cares for American citizens such as Bigfoot. He loves big footed people like Sasquatch. And why are you focusing on his socks when there are so many other major problems going on such as Hunter Biden being found in a ditch next to a river with vaccines made from aborted babies for some virus that is a complete hoax?” —Kellyanne Huckabee McEnaney

    1. He didn't write that. It's actually too grammatically correct and coherent. The Cheeto couldn't spell "obstinate" if you gave him the first eight letters.
    2. He's ripping Kemp at the same time he's working Kemp's corner (fueled by Powell) with the signature complaint (which Kemp already knows is a non-issue, since he was SOS for previous elections and didn't say a peep because county officials do just that before opening every absentee ballot).
    3. PLEASE keep throwing shade at Georgia with a runoff election in the balance.

This was the pick for our local PBS station’s movie night a couple of weeks ago. Aside from Bogart’s courtroom scene, I found the movie underwhelming. The goofy girlfriend vs mom stuff was seemingly unrelated and distracting. The overly nasty rebuke of the novelist wannabe character seemed a bit extreme, bordering on anti-intellectual.

The novel is better, but the love story is still weak.

The best version of the material is probably the two-act play Wouk adapted from his own novel, "The Caine Mutiny Court Martial." It does away with the baggage of the Keefer / Wynn romance.
