    The 25th Amendment do-si-do maneuver of "resign, get pardoned by the VP-as-acting-POTUS, then reclaim power" would be a huge risk for the crooked president, because:

    1) Presumably the crooked president would never try this unless conventional impeachment was almost certain;

    3) Impeachment is not a criminal proceeding, no pardon can be given in cases of impeachment. In the hypothetical case the crooked president would be safe from legal prosecution, but would be subject to impeachment again as soon as he resumed office. Presumably if he was already in danger of impeachment before, the public spectacle of the 25thA subterfuge would only cement the impression of his guilt and make impeachment more certain.

    Plus he'd be taking the huge huge risk that the VP aka Acting President might, a) actually be struck with a sudden pang of conscience and sense of responsibility to the constitution, or, b) be struck by a sudden flash of megalomania and say, "holy shit, I like being president," and say, "fuck you, no pardon."

    What's he gonna do then? Cry to the cops?
    Sue him for breach of contract?

    That's why Fatfuck will never delegate a pardon to Jeezus Boy Pence: fear of option b) above.

    Because Fatfuck also knows that Puntz was personally hand-installed as VP by Manafort on the orders of his Russian handlers.
    Presumably if the wheels of history somehow moved to thrust Puntz into the Oval Office, the Russian string pullers would make it known to Puntz, "You are ordered to do Whatever It Takes to remain president. We Repeat: Whatever. It. Takes."

    I don't think convictions or pardons apply to those running for president. The Constitution doesn't specifically say pardons take away your right to run for office (only impeachments do that) and there is nothing in the eligibility requirements.

    Things usually don’t go well for people attacking the USA in Gettysburg.

    Charlie Manson could have run for president from his prison cell. He was a natural born citizen over 35 years of age.

    McConnell is a selfish traitor. I just wish someone gets the leverage to squeeze his a** so he’s squealing. Assistant? Domestic worker, somebody.

    I’d like to see evidence of the Manafort-Pence-Russia ties.
