President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

Life comes at you pretty fast.

 

Sen. Girod blamed environmentalists for the fire. Doubtless his constituents agreed with him. We have at least a third of the country living in a permanent bad acid trip. Too bad one of them is the President.

 

So BBC's website has a headline about Biden's election could be lost because of the Latino vote. To that I say "REALLY???" I mean if Latino's need any more reason to vote against Trump I'm at a loss. He's caged Latinos, separated kids from their parents, and called them (Mexicans) all murders and rapists. If that's not enough, I got nothing for you.

 

Next time a Trumpist tells you they're voting for the idiot because of the stock market, have them take a little quiz.

Match the right number from the first group to the right time period in the second group.


Answers: Obama first term, 72 percent. Obama second term, 45 percent. Trump, 41 percent. In other words, they only think their 401k is doing the best it's ever done. They're only 30 percent behind the hated Democrat, who also endured an awful patch by the markets.

 

Polls have shown Biden not doing as well with Hispanics as did Clinton. This is a fact. There are, as usual, countervailing facts. 1. Polling Hispanic voters is difficult and traditionally the national Anglo polls haven't been real good at it. 2. The focus on Florida and Cuban voters skews stories like these. That's a red constituency slowly slowly drifting purple. 3. There are a LOT of vested Hispanic interest pols who're perfectly willing to talk this up in hopes of benefits from the Biden campaign. This is not a rip. That's politics. Ed Rendell does the same thing every election. In the end, exit polls will show Biden got 63-68 percent of Hispanic voters, as always. His problem isn't the Hispanics who vote, it's the traditional low turnout rates in an ethnic group who for some reason think American politics doesn't work for them, Too lazy for blue font on that sentence, they have many great reasons for thinking that.

 

They don’t care. It’s about hurting those who don’t think like they do.

 

It's also telling that Biden hasn't spent a lot of time talking about immigration issues. It's not necessarily a great issue to bring in Latino voters. Interested in seeing who is winning the Catholic vote (with plenty of cross-tabs).

 

Yes, hmmm do we vote for the lifelong Catholic or the twice-divorced, admitted unfaithful husband? If you're being honest, its not that hard.

 

There's an organization whose acronym is PRRI who polls about religion a lot. Last one they did showed that Biden's favorability (NOT vote intention!!) among Catholics was up to 66 percent.

You’re asking honesty from people who claim to be pro-life but find the death penalty to be a pro-life policy. You’re asking honesty from people who accept the rape of tens of thousands of their own children because Jesus? Honesty from people who have no idea what Faith hope and Charity mean. Catholics are just evangelicals with better looking churches.

 

Not all Catholics. But a great many started using their religion as an excuse for white racism around 1965.
