Since the market is completely disconnected from reality, I expect the Dow to jump 300 points today.

So a series of half-assed local "lockdowns" with no national planning didn't work to save the economy or stem transmission of the virus?

    I'm shocked.

The stock market? Completely connected to reality. Jay Powell stood in front of a Zoom press conference yesterday and told the market that interest rates are going to stay at zero for years. The bond market is actuallly pricing in negative interest rates by next year, despite the Fed saying it won't happen (how many things have they said that they went back on?).

In that environment, risky assets can stay at "completely disconnected from reality" levels on the back of escalating margin and leverage and debt. It's a casino handing out free chips. ... until a bill suddenly gets slapped on everyone and the bottom falls out.

    And here we go.

The S&P 500 futures had a knee-jerk negative reaction to that one.

It's against the law. Only Congress can determine when elections are.

Would be a scarier proposition if it was the Senate's discretion but it's not.

The funny thing about that tweet. He sees the poll numbers, so he wants to buy time to try to turn things around. The idiot bloviatorsphere that is behind him will now make delaying the election into their cause celebre.

But the reason that he has the worst polling numbers by an incumbent president at this point in his reelection year during my lifetime, is that people just want this clown show to end and they want him gone. The large majority of people who feel that way, will not want to delay the election and watch him fuck up everything for any longer than is Constitutionally necessary.

@Inky_Wretch If we could hold an election during the civil war, I think we can figure out a way to make this election happen. The only "embarrasment to the USA" is going to be this adled wannabe banana republic dictator trying to cast doubt on the election when he loses big.

Plus, the 2oth Amendment puts a hard end to the end of a POTUS term of office, election or not.
Even Clarence Thomas would have a hard time arguing against that.
