What's really dumb about this latest talking point is what happens if there are more than 200,000 deaths?

Trumpists will then just whine that Dems are pointing out the number of deaths to make political points, when it's their own benchmark that they've set. They truly are shameless and pathetic.

After reading that, the New York University School of Law should immediately be sued for gross neglience for giving that guy a diploma of any kind. Epstein knows as much about medicine as I know about Russian tractor maintenance. And yet he still believes he's an expert in medicine because "he taught medical people stuff." Wow.

No one could have predicted a psychotic amateur driven by grievance and in thrall to hostile foreign interests would be so bad at public health crisis management.

This line: "And as much as I'd like to see taxes raised on the uber wealthy, some Americans hesitate because they believe one day they'll be rich themselves."

I can't imagine the guy who hangs drywall wearing a MAGA hat and has the "Cold Dead Hand" bumper sticker on his Ford F150 really thinks he'd be as rich as Gates, Buffet or Zuckerberg one day, and would oppose Bernie on those grounds. And the drywall guy is the one really getting screwed by Trump. But apparently they do believe they will stumble into a pile of money one day, although it would have to be because they hit PowerBall.

Id love to see what that asshole has to say now, and again in mid April. I love his parting shot - he thinks we’re hurting the Economy by overreacting, but if we aren’t overreacting the Economy will be hurt anyway. It’s a win-win for his analysis! Pompous dick.

And really - with state lotteries already funding government, taxing the winnings amounts to a double-tax. It makes less sense to tax lottery winnings than those who make their living buying and selling stocks. 24 percent federal on lottery winnings (whether $1,500, 1.5m or 15m) vs. capital gains taxes which top out at 20 percent.

Or you could live in Alabama, where the citizens are protected from the sinful effects of gambling by having no lottery. That means that millions of dollars that could be funding the state fund Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida instead, because the busiest lottery stations in those states all sit on the Alabama border.

Never said logic or reason had anything to do with that belief, just that it exists and is more widespread than people want to acknowledge.
