Yeah, a couple of people pointed out Warren, as well as from more recent times Sandra Day O'Connor, who was majority leader of the Arizona State Senate, though she was more a government lawyer who got into politics (appointed to a vacant state senate seat, was good at it, wound up serving 5 years & then running for a judgeship) than a career politician of the kind I was thinking of. Still seems very odd to me - even if clerks do a lot of the legal work, the two jobs still seem to call for very different temperaments and skill sets.

 

But what about the laser beams?

 

I get stories like these but, nevertheless: Why? It Buttigieg not qualified? Was there some 37-year-old woman in America prevented from running for president?
