So is assuming the term was used as a "parlor trick."

I don't care what you call them. The point is that they are intentionally cruel.

    Per Merriam-Webster online:

    Definition of concentration camp
: a place where large numbers of people (such as prisoners of war, political prisoners, refugees, or the members of an ethnic or religious minority) are detained or confined under armed guard —used especially in reference to camps created by the Nazis in World War II for the internment and persecution of Jews and other prisoners.

    "frigid" cells . . . on the U.S.-Mexico border?

Have you ever slept on a concrete floor? Odds are that it will be cooler to significantly cooler than your body temperature. It leaches the warmth from your body until you wake up shivering.

Wanna make Bob Mueller a multimillionaire? Have him put out his report on audiobook. That’s how he reaches the masses.

From the CN story. Were they concentration camps back in 2015, or nah because the right team was in charge?

Call them whatever you want. Use a loaded term that evokes Nazi Germany if you choose. The problem didn’t start in November 2016. Just know that.

“The settlement landed back in court in 2015, when class members moved to enforce it following the Obama administration’s announcement that it would scrap bond hearings because they conflicted with newer immigration laws.

In legal filings, the class contended the elimination of bond hearings and dirty and dangerous conditions at short-term holding facilities operated by the Border Patrol violated the agreement.

U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee in Los Angeles granted the class’ motion and ordered the appointment of an independent monitor to ensure government compliance with Flores.

Gee said the administration had breached Flores by failing to provide detainees with adequate food and clean drinking water, or with hygiene items like soap, toothbrushes and towels. She also concluded that the children were being deprived of sleep and access to bathrooms, and were subjected to near-freezing temperatures.

    The
Ninth Circuit affirmed much of Gee’s ruling in July 2017, finding that detainees were still entitled to bond hearings.”

    Here's a story from Dec. 1, 2015:

Families Report Abuse in Border Patrol Detention Facilities, Despite Court Ruling

Families who arrive at the United States’ southern border have navigated hundreds of miles through dangerous terrain, often with no more than the clothes on their backs. Once in CBP custody, the families are transferred to holding facilities the women refer to as las hieleras, or, the iceboxes. They told us that the iceboxes are cells devoid of beds and pillows and kept at frigid temperatures, where individuals wearing wet clothing are forced to share scarce sheets of aluminum foil for warmth. Women reported that families are packed into crowded cells with little room to move or lay down, and lights are kept on 24 hours a day. In our conversations, we heard that women and children are not permitted to bathe or brush their teeth, and toilet paper and soap frequently run out. Perhaps most damagingly, women say that they were prohibited from seeing their young boys for the length of their incarcerations.

Now...was President Obama a heartless man? No. No, I don't think he was. And yet these detention center conditions persisted then, too.

Again: Way harder issue than people appreciate. The left has no answers here. Didn't back then, when Obama was in charge. Doesn't now. Except for moral superiority on social media.

Whatever. The sudden rush of concern for a border problem that has festered for years seems convenient. The Democratic position on immigration seems to mirror this board: "Yeah, well, Trump's an asshole and all his immigration ideas are bad." OK. What are your ideas?

It's not the same thing. Spare me the whataboutism shit.

Six children have died in the last eight months in ICE custody. That's six more than in the Obama administration.
