On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes--and I see many of them in the audience here today--our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.

"I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go." --at a campaign event in Beaverton, Oregon

Oh and there's a whole list of these:

plus "I can see Russia from my backyard"

    And a shitload of others:

My God. You'd thought the Tea Party had the corner on this shit.

Amen Starman. They ladies have proven that they are not capable of handing the big league brush-back or put another way the 3 am phone call.

I've seen the 57-states quote about 100 times over the past week...it's more than three years or so old. Was it recently dug up in a Fox News alert or something? Why is it suddenly a right-wing meme after all this time? Does Fox News and Friends think America thinks Obama is dumb? Really?

But the DailyKos will keep you updated on Bachmann, I'm sure.

    taking the trolling bait.

ONCE AGAIN ... these particular two.

Plenty of others would do just fine.

For that matter, I wouldn't want a sniveling blubbering limp-wristed pansy-ass like Boehner taking the 3 a.m. call either. He'd dissolve into tears before the third ring.

Nope. As a native of Waterloo, here's who is from my beloved hometown (good and bad):

Gacy (lived here, then left after gettin nabbed for sodomizing a kid. He was Man of the Year a few years prior to that run-in. The rest as they say, is history)
    Bachmann
    NFL HOF Don Perkins
    Darren Sproles (of the Chargers)
    MarTay Jenkins (of the Cardinals)
Don Denkinger (St. Louis Cardinals fans, don't get started)
    NFL ref Larry Nemmers
Dan Gable (you still want to wrestle that old man? He can still kick my ass...on two bad hips)
    The Sullivan Brothers (enough said)
SNL alum Gary Kroeger (actually from next door in Cedar Falls. Is having a great second career for a local PR firm after leaving Hollywood)
    Forry Smith (actor)
Tom Smith (played fullback on the '72 Dolphins SB team)
    Reggie Roby
    Rich Folkers (MLB pitcher)
    Lou Henry Hoover (First Lady)
    Bob Bowlsby (Stanford AD)

Blago wouldn't cut it living in Waterloo. It's too "hood" for him.

Star, I agree with most of the things you said...
Then you got to the crap about racism and Obama. That dog don't hunt, no matter how many different attempts you and your bretheren on the left keep setting it loose. There is just no there there.

I'd vote for John Wayne Gacy. He got things done.

So, in retrospect, Jon Huntsman's rollout suddenly doesn't look so bad.

Part of running a campaign -- or being President -- is hiring competent people you can trust to do a good job.

Bachmann's staff failed her here (if that's the case).

But, if she can't figure this shit out, who's going to be in her Cabinet?
