Ready for big-time high school athletics? We are looking for an ambitious leader to serve as the face of The Clarion-Ledger’s high school sports coverage. We want someone who strives to tell more than the same old bat-and-ball game stories. We want someone who loves telling stories and being an authority on the beat. We cover about nearly the entire state of Mississippi, and people expect us to be the authority on high school sports. The ideal candidate should have experience managing stringers and the ability to coordinate our high school sports coverage. Candidates need a keen eye for enterprise and unique stories. We push digital storytelling, so a comfort in that area is preferred. This person must strategically use social media to grow audience and be comfortable with using readership and demographic data to consistently increase reach. Position is located in Jackson, the state capitol of Mississippi. Please email five story clips, three examples of digital work and a resume with references to sports editor Zack Creglow. No calls.
