The Salt Lake Tribune, a consistent APSE Top 10 section, is seeking
an energetic, motivated and social-media versed individual to join
its Sports staff. This position is our lead high school writer and
preps are the primary focus of the job. The successful applicant
understands and is excited about our multi-platform approach: writing
    for the daily paper, including hyper-local neighborhood editions;
writing for the Web, including the feeding and management of a
popular blog; and social networking, including Twitter and facebook
and how those tools relate to our overall mission. The successful
applicant has a demonstrated history of both breaking news and of
enterprise reporting. Although the primary focus is preps, we have an
integrated staff structure. This writer should expect to be writing
sidebars from college football games during the fall, for example,
and will have regular opportunities to contribute on every beat, from
the University of Utah to investigative projects to the Utah Jazz.
Send resumes to Michael Anastasi, Managing Editor/Sports, Features &
Production, The Salt Lake Tribune, 90 South 400 West, Salt Lake City,
    Utah, 84101.

I'm thinking this would be a very good and very demanding gig.

Anyone know what something like this might pay, or might be looking at? Seems like a great gig.

I have a buddy at the newspaper. He loves it and the city. Salt Lake City may get its knocks cuz its, well, in Utah. But it's one of the coolest metropolitan cities in the U.S. and continously ranked as one of the fittest cities in the country if you're into the health scene.

Jay, young Maggie Thach is leaving after 3.5 years to live with her boyfriend in Lake Tahoe. Or she's going to work for ESPN the Magazine in New York. Whichever.

Salt Lake is a nice city. I lived right in downtown for several months.

How's the weather, especially in the winter?

Always sunny. Between 75 and 85 degrees. Zero precipitation. Shorts and flip flops to be sure.

That's why they had the Winter Olympics there!
