I don't mean to speak for Tom, but he said on the Bakersfield college opening thread that he refused to steal anyone's thunder. If the new hire or someone at the shop wants to state his name, cool. If not, and inquisitive minds want to know who it is, they could always check the paper's Web site and look for new bylines.
