Yep. On club teams the parents don't even care about the other kids -- just their own.

INVARIABLY the first thing any club-sport parent will bring up in any discussion of the club team is how the asshole coach is favoring some other kid (usually his-her own) in terms of PT, position, shots, exposure, etc etc.

As opposed to high-school teams, where the parents have the coach's back at every possible turn.

haha, the prep comments can be broken down as follows:

    15% congrats to player/team/league
25% the refs suck/couldn't control the game
60% the coach is clueless/doesn't know how to prepare his kids/wrong starting lineup

    On club teams:

    5%
    50%
    98%

    Allowing for overlap.

This is a wild generalization, but as someone who has covered preps off and on for 15 years, I believe I can speak to this with something approaching authority. That is, the more affluent the parents, the more they complain.

They're used to getting their way in every other facet of life. Why should the media treat them any different?

Traditional team sports parents can be a pain in the ass, but country club sports parents are 10 times worse.

The other truism of club sports:

Where x=number of players, x-1=number of players that each parent thinks is an asshole who must be avoided and possibly kicked off the team.

Pretty damn good correlation, from my experience.
