Mine that Bird just needed a little more time after getting caught behind in that final turn. I hoped he'd catch her, but damn, Alexandra is fast and smooth — especially considering she never responded well to the surface, according to Borel.

What's the over/under on headlines with the word "girl" in them?

    'Atta Girl

    You go Girl

    and so forth...

Luckily, I swapped the 3 for the 11 before placing the bet. But I also dropped it to a $1 box.

    48050390372624 PIMLICO # 12 $1 Trifecta 13,WT,1,2,3,5,7,9,WT,1,2,3,5,7,9, $30.00 $108.10

Thanks to an exacta box I played without the filly, my winnings dipped to $54.10.

    So $54.05? That's not a bad take.

Nothing like the $23K take for the Kentucky Derby though.

    Yes and no.

The $108.10 was the payout for the $1 trifecta. The $2 was double that.

But, as I amended my post, I had other wagers that didn't pan out. So my profits dipped.

After these first two Triple Crown races, you should teach a class. I'd pay for it.

    Nice work again!

    Inky, I gotcha.

Good work though. My tickets didn't pan out, but maybe they did. I need to go check them out. I was pulling hard for Big Drama.

You'd be demanding a refund. Like I said, I blind squirreled the Derby. This one wasn't any better in terms of handicapping with RA atop the ticket and boxed with half the field.

I've hit claiming races that provided a bigger sense of accomplishment than these two races. But at least I've got drinking money for tonight (for my first night out since the baby was born).

And in the end, isn't that all that matters?
