I heard two candidates were scheduled to be in after Jan. 1. Any word?

I do know it was turned down at least once.

Yes, at least once - and they had a northern guy in their sites but I do not know how that worked out.

shouldn't this gig be easier to fill?

You know, I hope this stays within the bounds of appropriate discussion for a jobs thread, because you'd THINK it would be easy to fill.

But in another neck of the woods from me, a job that I would have described as my "dream job" opened up. Part of what was a great chain, great job, great city.

And now, the chain has decayed completely, and the paper is a shadow of what it was. And I'm not interested anymore.

    And that's sad.

To tag along on what SF is saying, I would expect being SE at the P-D is like being manager of the Devil Rays ... big-time operation run by folks who only know about small-time stuff.

  9. Well put. I know it was turned down by one assistant editor from down south and they were pursuing another one. Not sure where it stands right now, but they are taking their sweet time.

Turned down again, I'm told. That's three times now.

I would suggest it's a lot more than one dollar they save. Good point, though.
