If the Yankees decide not to bring Torre back, who would make the best replacement?

And you KNOW Guidry is a dead man, walking.

Yeah, because it was Guidry's fault the front and middle of their bullpen of has-beens and never weres and a rotation made up of same. Damn, this is going to be fun to watch.

C'mon, Boom. George has been doing that for 34 years and you know it as well as anyone.

agree - O'coner interview is most recent example. Usually he used Bill Madden for this type of work.

Understand. You KNOW George was the one-and-only behind the absurd cave-in to Roger, but you think the old goat's going to blame himself?

    No. Chance.

Take darkhorse Trey Hillman off the Yankees list:

Actually, it might be best to replace Guidry. Not because he's a bad coach (I think he played a BIG role in Wang's development), but because the replacement, Dave Eiland, has spent a lot of time working with the Little Three (Hughes, Kennedy & Chamberlain). Eiland should know them the best and how to get the most out of them, so it would only make sense to have him guiding the way for them in the Bigs. Plus with Alan Horne, Kevin Whelan, Ross Ohlendorf & Daniel McCutchen on the way, his presence would only further help. I'm not saying that all of those guys will turn out to be studs, but having a familiar face & voice on the coaching staff will help make the learning curve a little easier.

I have no problem with Guidry going. Hell, they can all go and go they probably will, but Cashman or whoever was making personnel decisions is the real issue here. That's all I'm saying. To me, tossing Guidry ... another "good Yankee" ... is just more symbolism of how this is the baseball equivalent of Amy Winehouse. This bitch is going to be ugly, but fun to watch ion a trainwreck sort of way.

I say that because Girardi, while being very smart, can be abrasive and has his own ego. I understand and loathe Loria, but I don't know that Girardi would be able to handle the situation in terms of personalities. It doesn't matter how smart he is, it's how he can deal with a clubhouse with strong personalities.

Take Steinbrenner and the ownership committee out of it, and you have accomplished players in the clubhouse. That is a different situation than with the Marlins.

Girardi was leader of Yankee clubhouse when he was there. Anyone who spent anytime there saw that on first hand basis.

Can I vote for John Turturro? Would make as much sense as some of Big Stein's moves.
