Possible Hostage Situation on City of New Orleans Train

Baton Rouge LA CBS affiliate WAFB is enroute to a possible hostage situation
at a train depot in Hammond Louisiana. According to WAFB, the
"City of New Orleans" Amtrak train is stopped at the station, there is a
reported hostage situation, one train car has been evacuated. WAFB reports
SWAT teams are enroute.

An Amtrak spokesman confirms police are responding to an emergency onboard The
City of New Orleans train in Hammond. "There is a situation on one of our
trains there but I don't know what that situation is," said Amtrak spokesman
Cliff Black.

Black says a manifest shows 55 passengers are onboard. The train was
travelling from Chicago to New Orleans.

Witnesses say they are being told the incident involves a hostage situation.
Dozens of law enforcement officers are converging on the scene.

People are being kept back from the train station, which was evacuated.

Witnesses say a special response team from the Hammond Police Department
appears poised to enter the train.

Witnesses also say at least one car on the train has been evacuated.
