Love "In the Stone," but wasn't sure that fit obscure song ...

As for Phil's selection, Genesis did it first on the "Duke" album. PC did a jazzier version (EWF horns, anyone?) ... six of one, half-dozen of the other. Both very, very good.

Great call on Elton John's Grey Seal. I've been in a Elton mood lately. And then I heard this song in Eddie Bauer the other day. I had never heard it before. I don't know, it's just a good song.

Goo Goo Dolls - We Are The Normal
    Pink Floyd - High Hopes
    Alanis Morissette - Joining You
Collective Soul - quite a few, most of which are better than their radio airplay songs
Smashing Pumpkins - so many, but my picks would be Love or Girl Named Sandoz
Temple of the Dog - Wooden Jesus

    Great thread idea...

It's on the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album. EJ could fill this thread with that album alone. "Funeral For a Friend (Love Lies Bleeding)" shouldn't be considered obscure, but let's see ...

    "Grey Seal"
    "I've Seen That Movie Too"
    "The Ballad of Danny Bailey"
    "All the Girls Love Alice"
    "Harmony"

    Pretty good start there ...

Not to pick nits, but "Something" does not qualify as an 'obscure song' by any stretch of the imagination.

The Beatles' single topped the US Billboard charts (in '69), went top ten in England, and went on to become the second-most covered Beatles song after "Yesterday". The song has been recorded by Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, James Brown, Julio Iglesias, Ike and Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson, Shirley Bassey, Peggy Lee, Joe Cocker, Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Booker T. & The M.G.'s, Isaac Hayes, Andy Williams, Ray Stevens, Paul McCartney & Eric Clapton...among others.

The Doors, from L.A. Woman: "Cars Hiss By My Window," "L'merica" and "The Wasp (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)," my favorite of the three.
"Riders on the Storm" and (of course) "L.A. Woman" are on that album.

Peace Frog -- The Doors. That was the only song at my senior prom I actually wanted to dance to.
