The Colts were lucky to be close at the end of that game. What the Steelers looked like at midseason is meaningless.

Remember, the year before the Steelers beat the hell out of the Patriots and then the Eagles. They didn't just win. They blew both teams out. But the Patriots were better when it mattered...just like the Steelers were last season.

I know there was the Raiders-Gruden subplot there, but if anything, that game didnt have enough buildup. I think it was the last game played without two weeks of monotonous, momentum-killing buildup.

In that regard, it was the perfect game.

And columbo, when you say silly shit like "The Colts woudl have beaten the Steelers last year eight times out of 10," you sound like a Colts fan. Maybe they would have won 80 percent of the time, but they lost the game they had to win. Chokers! Frauds! Peyton and Dungy will never win the big one!!!

The Bucs were worthy. The relatively high number of votes they got are more a reflection of their subsequent failures than in their performance for that season and in the Super Bowl.

Agreed. That Bucs team was at least a middle-of-the-road Super Bowl champion.
