I find this stunning, only because Federer's game is so much more fun to watch than Sampras was at his best. I'm not anti-Pete, but his game was 75-percent his serve.

I wasn't ready for Pete to retire, I guess. Federer is great, maybe the best ever, and I hope to appreciate him before his decline.

As an add to my pick of football: NFL just ain't the same without the L.A. Rams. How many of you would still live for Sunday if your Packers left Green Bay or Redskins left D.C. or Cowboys left Dallas?

It's amazing to see the difference between people over here and my friends. Last year, the only thing the kids at my high school cared about was Pro/College football and basketball.

I'm amazed at the number of people here that love the NFL. I thought college football would be the favorite.

Maybe because politics plays a lesser role in the NFL. [/dyepack]

That's because kids are stupid and they don't know shit. That's why you're kids. Because you're stupid. ;) :D

As for me, I just put baseball into the lead.

    Baseball
    Pro football
Men's college basketball (exclusively alma mater til March Madness...nothing bores me more than a Big East/ACC/Big Ten/other humongous conference regular season game. They mean nothing since two-thirds of the league is going dancing anyway, unlike in the mid-majors)

    Volleyball
MAYBE track and field, only in person to hear the roar of the crowd during the final turn of a 400- or 800-meter race

Stick the rest in a blender and hit puree.

Single best moment for me in this business was watching from the Cerritos College press box during the 1991 California Track and Field Championships, when Compton's Ricky Carrigan, 8-10 meters behind Hawthorne's Eric (I think) Allen at the start of the 400-meter relay anchor leg, rallied 'round the final bend, 10,000 mad fans rising like a tidal wave as each sprinted the straightaway, and won at the tape. The drama was fan-fucking-tastic.

;D Hey we're not stupid. Just because all we care about are slam dunks, mobile quarterbacks, and highlights dosn't mean we're dumb. Tim Duncan? Fundamentally sound? Punting on Madden Football? Fuck Dat.

Track and field is amazing in person. TV can't capture how fast people are running or how far they're jumping.
