For a lot of us, of course, the real answer of what's most important in terms of readership interest is spring football.

Why is it sad? If that's what they want, that's what they want. College football is popular; extremely so in much of the South. What makes it sad that people are interested in how players are developing, who's the strongest of the starting QB candidates, that sort of thing? It is what it is.

Conversely, is it sad that all NCAA championships, from D-I men's basketball to D-III fencing, aren't treated equally?

I see where you're coming from, but college football in the South is a whole other animal. Hell, I'm surprised they don't start indoor football teams.

I could start another thread on this, but I wanted to commend your attention to this story, which gently bitchslaps all the Mississippi papers for failing to send a reporter to Hartford -- where the Ole Miss women won twice.

A seven-seed will not likely win both.
And if they draw 300 people at a game, I can see why editors wouldnt send someone.
Now, they have to send someone for a 1-and-out in the Sweet 16.

  6. Norman Transcript? Now there's a newspaper all newspapers in Mississippi should give a shit about. Jesus, what nerve.

Norman Transcript sounds like the name of an old-school editor I had a long time ago.

I say we invade, take them over.

    Call it the Norman Conquest.

Nobody expects the Norman ... ah, forget it.

Did Memphis, with its much greater resources, send anyone to Norman? Just curious.

    Hartford, not Norman.

But, based on the CA's Web site, which has the AP story, they did not.

    Good question, though.
