    Maybe it went like this...
She's having money problems. The apartment, the car, all of that. Maybe McNair won't or can't help her any more than he is. Then she finds out McNair is sleeping around on her (oh the irony). Then she's hit with the DUI, and sees herself get arrested while McNair goes home in a cab. The next night, McNair is out drinking until 1 a.m. or so.
She starts to think McNair is using her, other parts of her life are spiraling out of control, and a bad week turns into a tragedy.

I've never understood why people who are shacking up with someone who is cheating on their spouse are surprised when the cheater cheats on them.

Their chat from the live feed of the press conference was even better (from deadspin)

Have we established that he was cheating on his wife? All indications are they were seperated and headed for a divorce.

    That isn't cheating.

No paperwork for divorce. He was still married.

Sounds like Ms. K., in the words of Vin Scully, was getting a taste of the same vinegar Mrs. McNair had been drinking for awhile.
Any prospective mistresss should realize if the dude is cheating on his wife, he's gonna cheat on you eventually.

There is a lesson to be learned from this. If she's not legal and from Iran, leave her alone.
