And Stevie is well ahead of Mike in the individual poll.

So what? Last time I checked we don't vote for the Prime Minister.

The same poll says that the Liberal party is ahead of the Conservatives--not by much, but they've pretty much wiped out the fuck-up under Dion.

One thing is clear: nobody wants another federal election and if Steviee Boy forces one, he'll get his ass handed to him.

It's also clear that Harper's party in the last election did what the Conservatives have always done---going back to Diefenbaker--shoot themselves in the foot.

They had a majority government in their grasp, blew it and then acted as if they had won.

Harper's insistence on controlling everything in the government--right down to the colour of the paper clips---is going to bite him in the ass at some point.

Pssssssssssssst ... JR ... it wasn't Stevie Boy trying to force an election last month.

Just wanted to clear that up.

That's right, it's been Iggy. Who has found out the hard way that he can count on no help from his "friends." :D

Even his friends within his own party. Mr. Coderre delivered him a nice swift kick in the nuts there. Pretty sure that will hurt him in Quebec. The Bloc is loving that right now.

Wasn't talking about last month. Talking about Harper's idea after the last election when he acted as if he had a majority, didn't think the Libs, Bloc & NDP would gang up on him and then they did. It was Michaelle Jean who saved his ass.

And last month's little attempt at non-confidence was a sham. Even the Liberals knew ahead of time it wasn't going to pass.

Problem is that given the nature of the present Parliament and the stranglehold the Bloc has on Quebec, the Liberals on Ontario and the Conservatives on the west. we may see a succession of minoirty governments for a number of elections. Don't have a problem with that. Makes the government more accountable to Parliament. And the Bloc taking seats away from the Liberals will just about gurantees it.

If, after the next election, there's a Liberal minority, Harper is dead in the water

Oh, and AMac, Acadia lost to SFX on Saturday--60-7.

    Make you feel better? :)

Way to talk around the point, JR. Harper isn't planning on pushing another election and yet that's what you bring up in a feeble attempt to run him down the gauntlet ... again.

    Are you kidding me?

Harper sure as hell is planning another election--while at the same time vigorously denying it. T

He's sick of having this minority albatross around his neck because it means he has to put up with the likes of Jack Layon when he wants to escape a non-confidence vote. Damn parliamentary democracies are so inconvenient.

And he knows two things: the Liberals are faltering but they've also doubled their membership since Iggie took over and are building up a huge war chest. Quebec is becoming a huge problem for Iggie which the Conservatives would like to exploit.

The four by-elections next month will serve as the entrails to a federal election.

I'm predicting an election next spring at the latest.

Harper knows that he's probably got one last shot at this majority government. One more minority and he's out on his ass.
