Get used to this RAW. Being crushed on SportsJournalists.com is only step one in your initiation - like the youngans getting whaled on by Ben Affleck in Dazed and Confused. And it is far from over.

For some constructive comments: read read read, obviously. But also, write, write, write. Even if it isnt for anything. Watch a game and write about it.

Then get as much feedback as you can stand. Post in the writer's workshop here. Try sending an article to a local writer/editor. Hell, have your mom read it and find out what she thinks. Just keep going after it.

Oh yeah... if you are thick skinned enough to handle us, then you've got a fighting chance. Otherwise, you'll end up like... him..

This was my reply one of the other 96 times this was brought up:

If you're really a newbie who's thinking of getting into this business, I hope this helps. Good luck.

If you're just assing around like some have presumed, then fuck off.

And get into it because you like words, not because you like sports.

You won't be watching sports for a living -- you'll be writing about them.

Yeah, and if the Marietta Daily Journal comes a-calling, change your number.

When you have both of your hands in casts and go to the bathroom, that's when you find out who your friends are.
