98 on Wednesday. 95 yesterday. Considered wearing a light jacket on my walk today.

Tied a "record" high of 96 here in Denver, though record-keeping here is subjective because of vast reporting stations and the differences in those stations.

    I love seeing record highs.
    Basically useless.
    What's the difference between 96 and 104.
    Nothing.
    They're both hot!!!!!!

So much useless when they are taken from different recording stations. Especially here, 15-25 miles apart. Stop. Just. Stop.

My newspaper softball team once played a one-pitch tournament in July.
One pitch per batter. Swing for contact or get a strikeout/walk. It was great fun.

And we won the tournament. Somehow, we played eight of those games and won them all.
Each game in that format takes only an hour or so. But that gassed us like nothing before or since.
And I'd do it again in a heartbeat if my team gets to the final game. That all-day run to the final was EPIC.

    Done my share of 1-pitch.
    It is a blast.
There is a 48 hour tournament every year out here. Starts at 6:00 Friday night and straight through.
I worked or for 5 years when I was a young lad, and I won't do it again.
Stupid people + way way way way WAY too much beer + lack of sleep + bats and balls= no bueno.

Nearly the entire state is under a severe thunderstorm warning. Winds popping up to 80 mph in the mountains and expected in the city within the hour. Winds are already howling here at more than 40 mph.
