What kind of play did your paper (and papers in your area) give Friday's two big stories -- the Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards admission of an affair? Was there any staff-written copy on either, including columns?

Throw in the war in Georgia and Russia and that's a pretty big news day. Wonder how many papers broke their one nation/world story on the front page rule.

With our local orientation, the Olympics and Russia-Georgia hostilities were above-the-fold teases. (We have a Nation/World B section.)

Edwards was buried in the place below the weather page where the Amy Winehouse and Paris Hilton stories usually go. I really can't argue with that, as much as I would like to.
